End of Season Recap and
Sportfishing Outlook
KING SALMON: King fishing was slightly better this year. It seems like we are starting to recover some from the last few years of slow fishing. Blind Slough did have a little better return of adults this year over the previous few seasons, as predicted, and good numbers of jacks as well.
HALIBUT: Fishing was consistently good all season. I really believe we have the best halibut fishing in the state in both quantity and quality. We will again be fishing under a “reverse slot limit” very similar to last years. This year’s regulation is 1 fish per day under 40 inches or over 80 inches. No annual limit. We tried targeting rockfish a bit more this past year to add a little variety and people seemed to enjoy that. I’m sure we will be doing more in the future.
SILVER SALMON: Fishing for Silvers was very good this past year. We expect that to continue again for this upcoming season. Silvers provided lots of action from mid- July to mid- September.
